Rope Ladder

As you may have read on the Family Site, or any of the others, over the past few months, we have quite the climber in the family. J started it, climbing trees from an early age. He would climb everything in sight, if he didn't have the conservative bend that he does. Little D, however, does not have these inhibitions.

He will climb, does climb and has climbed, everything possible. ***In fact, I had to pause for a moment just now to go answer the front door. It was little D. He climbed the fence in back and went around front to ride his bike. Doh! So, my lovely wife decided if he was to climb everything, why not give him some challenging things to climb, to curb the climbing on everything else.

And here we go. A rope ladder. These pics were taken when we first put it up (we have since moved it to a better spot on the deck), but as you can see....it took no time and no encouragement for the climbing to begin. Its a challenge and it swings around, but both boys seem to have no issue with scaling the thing.

J won't go quite to the top of the deck yet, and D only gets so far before his feet hurt (and yes, duh, he could wear shoes, but...), but it has certainly helped with the urge to elevate.

I think we are going to add to it a bit and work on stabilizing the 'spread' to make it a bit easier, but now, in a grand tradition of making a living playground, we have added a new attraction to the obstacle yard.
